CAFE Web Platform Announcement 🎉

Published on February 2nd, 2022, 8:00 AM

Agricultural Communications’ Web Services Team is excited to announce its next generation of the College Web Platform. The platform is built on Drupal 9 and boasts substantial improvements in design, layout flexibility, branding, mobile responsiveness and accessibility. These improvements will help our site administrators to build resilient, robust and future-proof websites. The new platform greatly improves user experience for both end users and site builders.

Explore The Possibilities

Take the new CAFE Web Platform for a spin by previewing a demo site that utilizes the new design, layout, and content options.

Ready to get started?

Click the “Submit Interest Form” button below to indicate your interest. After receiving the submission, we will reach out with additional information.

Note: Submitting the interest form will prioritize your site in the transition process. Dependent upon how much custom development work was done by our team on your site(s), you might need to wait for similar functionality to be recreated in the new platform before fully transitioning.

If you aren’t interested in beginning the transition process now, you will be contacted at a later point in the year when your transition window has opened.

How will the transition process be coordinated?

  1. When your transition window opens, Web Services will create a Drupal 9 staging site that will eventually replace your current site.

  2. Web Services will enroll you in CAFE Web Training through Canvas. This training will prepare you for building your Drupal 9 site. After you complete this training, Web Services will communicate onboarding details for your Drupal 9 staging site.

  3. Once onboarded, you should begin to build out your Drupal 9 staging site.

Note: During the transition process, your current Drupal 7 site will remain live. You should continue to maintain that site as you normally would.

  4. Once your Drupal 9 staging site is ready to replace your current Drupal 7, you will submit a Go Live Request. More information will be provided on the Go Live process when onboarding details are communicated.

  5. Web Services will coordinate the transition of your Drupal 9 site into production. At this point, your Drupal 9 site will replace your Drupal 7 site.

Transition Timeline

February 2nd, 2022: Transition Announcement  🎉

November 28th, 2022: Drupal 7 reaches its end-of-life (EOL). This means there will be no more development or security releases. By this date, your Drupal 9 staging site should be prepared to replace your current Drupal 7 site.

June 30th, 2023: The servers supporting Drupal 7 sites will be decommissioned. Any remaining Drupal 7 sites will no longer be accessible.

Still have questions about the transition process?
