Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

General

You will receive an email with directions on how to log in to your site when you're initially given site edit access. If you are unable to locate the email with directions (or you need assistance with logging in to your site), please contact Web Services at cafe-web-support-l@lsv.uky.edu.

From your site's login page, you'll utilize your linkblue credentials (user ID and password) to log in. If you are having issues with your linkblue credentials, it is recommended you contact ITS Customer Services at 859-218-HELP (4357) or 218help@uky.edu. If you can use your linkblue credentials to log in to other UK applications (and not your Drupal site), please contact Web Services at cafe-web-support-l@lsv.uky.edu.

This documentation was written with the user in mind. There are only a few definitions you will need to know. These definitions are included below:

  • Content type: Every node belongs to a single “node type” or “content type”, which defines various default settings for nodes of that type, such as whether the node is published automatically and whether comments are permitted. Content types can have different fields and modules can define their own content types. Default custom content types for the CAFE platform include Person, Event, Local News, and Publication.
  • Taxonomy: In Drupal, "Taxonomy" is the name of a powerful core module that gives your sites use of terms. In Drupal, these terms are gathered within vocabularies which the Taxonomy module allows you to create, manage and apply.
  • Menu: In Drupal, the term refers both to the clickable navigational elements on a page, and to Drupal’s internal system for handling requests. When a request is sent to Drupal, the menu system uses the provided URL to determine what functions to call.

Users & Permission

All requests for site access must be provided to Web Services. Please email Web Services at cafe-web-support-l@lsv.uky.edu and provide the following information:

  1. New Employee's First and Last Name
  2. New Employee's linkblue ID

When your request is fulfilled, Web Services will reply to your email with a confirmation.

All requests for user removal must be provided to Web Services. Please email Web Services at cafe-web-support-l@lsv.uky.edu and provide the following information:

  1. Previous Employee's First and Last Name
  2. Previous Employee's linkblue ID

When your request is fulfilled, Web Services will reply to your email with a confirmation.

While you can technically log in to any CAFE site with your AG-associated linkblue credentials, you might not have access to the permissions needed to make changes. If you log in to a site and can't make changes, you will need to request user permissions from Web Services. Please email Web Services at cafe-web-support-l@lsv.uky.edu and provide the following information:

  1. First and Last Name
  2. linkblue ID

When your request is fulfilled, Web Services will reply to your email with a confirmation.

Platform Design

The design of all CAFE Drupal sites is based on the platform's standard design. Much of this design is dictated by university-specific policies and/or best practices in user experience and UI design. You are unable to modify the header, lateral menu, or footer of your College website. You are, however, able to place page content in whatever layout you prefer using landing pages.

Troubleshooting

If you notice any issues when adding content to your site, you can troubleshoot the issue by flushing your site’s cache. This process is simple and can sometimes resolve your issues without needing to contact Web Services.

To flush your site’s cache, follow the steps below:

  1. Hover over theHome icon in your Admin Toolbar.
  2. Click Flush all caches.
  3. This process will take a moment. You’ll receive a green “All caches cleared” banner when the process is complete.

Note: If clearing the cache does not resolve your site issue, please contact Web Services by email at cafe-web-support-l@lsv.uky.edu for assistance.
